Carla Escobar OrtizCarla Escobar Ortiz is a first-year doctoral student in Sociology. She is interested in studying the meaning-making of violent experiences and the categorization of victim and perpetrator. Her previous research has focused on the labeling and stigmatization processes of incarcerated populations at the intersection of race, gender, and coloniality.

She holds a BA in International Relations from the National Autonomous University of México (UNAM) and an MA in Gender Studies from El Colegio de México (COLMEX).
