claire-wyszynskiClaire Wyszynski is a RITM Fellow and a first-year PhD student in the Department of History. Her research explores the transnational experiences of mixed-race military families and interracially-married soldiers in the 20th century United States. At Yale, Claire looks forward to examining how their histories intersect with American immigration law, military base development, and racial formation. Prior to starting her graduate studies, Claire served as a Fulbright English Teaching Assistant (ETA) at an all-girls’ public middle school in Seogwipo-si, Jeju-do, South Korea. She received a B.A. in History and International Relations from the College of William & Mary. Her undergraduate thesis, which investigated how nineteenth-century doctors used medicalized nativism against Chinese immigrants to mount local political campaigns, received the William Elbert Fraley Award and the Undergraduate Research Library Award.
