Cristian HeadshotCristian J Padilla Romero is the child of campesino parents from Honduras. He migrated to the U.S. as a child and lived undocumented for over 20 years. Romero’s dissertation explores the silenced history of Black and Indigenous Garífuna and Afro-Caribbean radical organizing in Caribbean Honduras during the early and mid-twentieth century, and his broader interests focus on Black and Indigenous Honduras and Central America, African Diaspora, and Central American Migration to the U.S.
