Fisayo Akinlude is a 5th year PhD candidate in the History Department, and a historian of law and slavery in the British empire. Her dissertation project is about the transition from French to British colonial rule, and the reform of slavery on the island of Mauritius in the 18th and 19th centuries. Akilunde is interested in the histories of law, race, and colonialism not only in the Indian Ocean, but also in the Atlantic and wider world.
