Sofia-fernandez-gonzalezSofía R. Fernández González is a doctoral student in the Department of Spanish and Portuguese at Yale University, where she researches utopian movements, ecocriticism, performance and Galician studies. Sofía earned her MA in Philosophy from Universidade Santiago de Compostela in 2021, and later moved to New York on a Fulbright Fellowship. Sofía is also a writer; she has published Alalá (Arteidolia Press, 2024), Os Corpos Fráxiles (Aira Editorial, 2024) and Canícula (Edicións Laiovento, 2025). Acknowledging her privilege, Sofía is committed to avoiding the reproduction of stereotypes and to fostering an antiracist, multiethnic classroom. Particularly, Sofía is interested in decentering eurocentric pedagogies when teaching Spanish, a language spoken across more than 20 countries by 600 million people.
