Yunzhu Pan is a PhD student in the Department of American Studies. Prior moving to New Haven, they worked as an archival technician in Boston, Massachusetts. They graduated from Tufts University with a BA in History, Anthropology, and the Studies in Race, Colonialism, and Diaspora.

Yunzhu studies histories of imperialism and social scientific thought along the Anglo-Pacific world. They are interested in tracing the discursive category of 'illiberal' contract workers in relation to the emergence of Fabian societies and other modern 'industrial relations' institutes across the British and US empires. Previously, they wrote on social theories about proletarianisation and the "Chinese labor question" in Aotearoa New Zealand.
