One of the fastest growing majors in Yale College, the Program in Ethnicity, Race, & Migration (ER&M) is the cornerstone of undergraduate education within the RITM Center. Founded in 1997, ER&M draws from the humanities, the social sciences, and the sciences to emphasize the comparative analysis of global culture and politics; the racialization of native and diasporic communities; the struggles of indigenous peoples; and the experiences and perspectives of migrant populations worldwide.
RITM also provides grants to support undergraduate research and, thanks to the generosity of alumni, awards both the Henry K. Hayase B.A. 1973 Prize -- for the best student paper relating to Asian American experiences in the United States – and the Justice Carlos R. Moreno Prize -- for the best senior essay in the field of Latinx Studies.
