Cirũ Wainaina (she/her) is a 6th-year PhD Candidate in English Language and Literature. This year, she has been working on a project about Caribbean poet and broadcaster Una Marson and the BBC. She has enjoyed thinking critically about radio and empire for the last few months. And, she looks forward to marrying it (as best she can) with her previous work, which revels in the lush beauty of Caribbean pastorals. Cirũ is also a poet and crafter who takes every opportunity to ground herself, facing the sky, drinking the sun, in communion with the great big world.
