RITM celebrates and supports undergraduate research by administering two essay prizes for Yale College students: the Henry K. Hayase B.A. 1973 Prize – for the best student paper relating to Asian American experiences in the United States – and the Justice Carlos R. Moreno Prize – for the best senior essay in the field of Latinx Studies.

  • Henry K. Hayase Prize

    Established in 1988, the Henry K. Hayase Prize is awarded annually to the best student paper or senior essay dealing with a topic relating to Asian American experiences in the United States. The Henry K. Hayase Prize was established by the friends and alumni of Henry K. Hayase who graduate from Yale College in 1973.

  • Carlos R. Moreno Prize

    Established in the fall of 2009, the Justice Carlos R. Moreno Prize is awarded annually to the best senior essay focusing on the field of Latinx Studies, or on the Latinx experience in the United States.
