The RITM Research and Conference Travel Award supports conference travel and research by Yale students on topics related to race, indigeneity, or transnational migration. Individual awards typically range from $200-700 for conference travel and from $500-$2,000 for research.
PLEASE NOTE: Fall applications support only conference travel and senior thesis research projects.
Applications will be reviewed based on the following two deadlines:
- Round 1: 10/8/2026 1 PM ET (use this deadline for awards during academic calendar year)
- Round 2: 3/25/2027 1 PM ET (use this deadline for summer awards)
Applications are not reviewed on a rolling basis. Funds will not be awarded for travel that has already occurred.
Applications must go through the Yale Student Grants and Fellowships database.
A completed application will include:
- A statement of intent (500-750 words) describing how you will use award support (including relevant dates & location of travel, research sites, etc.), what experiences or coursework prepare you for this undertaking, and how you see the importance of your project as it relates to the understanding of race, indigeneity, and transnational migration.
- An itemized budget of anticipated expenses and list of other fellowships and sources of financial support which you have already secured or for which you have applied.
- Name and contact information of your thesis advisor and/ or DUS
- Confirmation from your DGS, DUS, or the equivalent administrator in your school or program, that you are in good academic standing and may receive the award.
