Meera Mishra (she/her) is from Farmville, Virginia, though she considers Fiji her second home. She is Indigenous and Indo-Fijian, and her heritage deeply informs her commitments to education, and community care. At Yale, she is a pre-medical student majoring in History of Science, Medicine, and Public Health (HSHM) with a Certificate in Education Studies. Her academic work explores global health, medical pluralism, and questions of trust between traditional and biomedical systems, with a particular focus on Indigenous Fijian and South Asian diasporic contexts.

On campus, Meera is an active member of the Indigenous Peoples of Oceania at Yale (IPO), Yale Rangeela, and the South Asian Youth Initiative, where she works to amplify diasporic and Indigenous voices. She also serves as a pedagogical partner through the Poorvu Center for Teaching and Learning and as a Program Coordinator at Tsai CITY, where she supports innovation programming and community building.

Meera’s interests have been shaped by her time working in India and by her ongoing research on medical pluralism in Fiji. She plans to return to Fiji after graduation to work in community health before attending medical school. She hopes to pursue a career at the intersections of clinical practice, public health, and community-based research.
