Lydia Tuan

Lydia is a PhD student in the combined program in Italian and Film & Media Studies. Her interests are mainly in moving images and interactive forms of visual representation, though she also shares secondary interests in literature, particularly migrant literature written in the Italian language. At Yale, Lydia plans to explore topics in postcolonial Italy, African migration and Italian national identity to look at how migrant identities and experiences have been represented in recent Italian films, art installations, interactive art and, more broadly, how they are received in contemporary Italian culture and mass media.
