Adriana Cerón is a Ph.D. candidate in the Department of Sociology at Yale University. She uses multiple methods to examine the transnational consequences of the U.S. immigration system, with a focus on deportation and its aftermath. Her research provides a rare lens into how deported migrants (primarily from Central America) experience and respond to the ripple effects of deportation in countries of return. One strand of this work investigates the social, material, and health consequences of deportation on migrants’ well-being and reintegration. Another strand examines how deported migrants make decisions about migrating again in response to the harms of deportation itself. Her research has been published in social science and public policy journals, including the Journal on Migration and Human Security, RSF: The Russell Sage Foundation Journal of the Social Sciences, and Ethnic and Racial Studies.
