Koby Chen
Koby is a senior at Yale pursuing both Ethnicity, Race, and Migration and History of Art. He was born in Fuzhou, China, and grew up in Vancouver, Canada, surrounded by mountains and water. He is passionate about the role of visual culture and visuality in postcolonial contexts, with a particular emphasis on photography. His broader interests include contemporary figurative art, immigration policy, museum accessibility, and histories of resistance movements. On campus, he has worked at the Yale University Art Gallery, the Yale Center for British Art, and the Office of International Students and Scholars. Most recently, he conducted thesis research in collaboration with Open Arms, combining academic inquiry with fieldwork and travel. Koby is ecstatic to work with the other fellows this year and engage in critical dialogue to develop their theses!
