Leander He
Leander He is a senior at Yale majoring in Linguistics and East Asian Languages & Literatures. He focuses on semantic fieldwork and language documentation, and has researched Mandarin Chinese, Blackfoot, Indonesian, and various Pama-Nyungan languages. His senior thesis is based on his fieldwork in Brisbane, Australia with diaspora speakers of Roro, an understudied Austronesian language of Papua New Guinea, and will focus on modality and irrealis from a crosslinguistic and diachronic perspective. Outside of linguistics, he is interested in queer East Asian studies and literary translation, and researches the genderqueer and transgender literature of China and Taiwan.
